R.L. Jennings, 76, of Morgantown, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, Kentucky. A long time resident of Butler County, he was born in Sebree, Kentucky on June 25, 1935 to the late John Henry and Lillian Donohoo Jennings. Mr. Jennings joined the Army when he was just seventeen years old. He was an Army engineer and served two tours in Korea and one in Vietnam. After serving 20 years in the Army, he settled with his family in Butler County. He attended school to become an appliance repairman. He then worked for juvenile justice at Green River Boys Camp and at a group home in Hopkinsville, Ky. He became the 2nd District Constable and served many years. He was a retired U.S. Army Veteran, member of Cool Springs General Baptist Church, Cassia Masonic Lodge #272, Butler Co. Shrine Club and owner and founder of Jennings Appliance Sales and Service.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday, July 15, 2011 from 4:00pm - 8:00pm at the Jones Funeral Chapel and Saturday 10:00am until the funeral at Cool Springs General Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at the Cool Springs General Baptist Church on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 1:00pm with Bro. Chris Vaught officiating. Burial will be in the Cool Springs Cemetery. Online condolences can be made at www.jonesfuneralchapel.com He was preceded in death by six brothers, J.W., Austin, Hayden, Dutch, Herman and Cleo Jennings and two sisters, Irene Jennings and Birdie Mae Jennings.

Jennings is survived by his wife, Mildred Faith Hazelip Jennings of Morgantown, Kentucky; daughter, Cheryl Gilstrap and husband Cecil of Cromwell, Kentucky; son, Bruce Jennings and wife Vonda of Morgantown, Kentucky; daughter, Dr. Susie Conklin husband John of Lexington, Kentucky; daughter, Beverly Simmons and husband Jerry of Morgantown, Kentucky; son, Jeff Jennings and wife Sara of Morgantown, Kentucky; son, Dr. Gary Jennings and wife Suzette of Henderson, Kentucky; grandchildren, Amanda Ford, Krissy Simmons, Kyle Simmons, Brett Jennings, Heather Jennings, Jared Gilstrap, Rachael Jennings, Jackson Jennings, Claudia Jennings, Joe Jennings, Cate Conklin and Giulia Gabbard and one great granddaughter Emma Belle Ford.
