This information was found in a number affidavits supporting a Civil War pension application made on behalf of Jackson Peter Vincent's chidlren by his second wife, Sarah Lindsey.

Nancy's correct date of death is November 9, 1879, as noted in numerous affidavits in support of a Civil War application made on behalf of Jackson Peter Vincent's minor children by his second wife Sarah and in the Mortality Schedule to the 1880 US Census.

According to Jackson Peter Vincent's Civil War Pension Application, several of Jackson and Sarah's children were raised by older children. After Jackson and Sarah passed away (in 1892):

A. Mitchell Vincent became the guardian of Reuben Jesse and Willis Chester; and

B. W.P. Vincent became guardian of Walter Samuel and Nancy Vincent.

By 1901:

A. Meredith York Vincent was the guardian of Rueben Jesse Vincent;

B. Reuben Vincent was the guardian of Nancy Vincent; and

C. W. P. Vincent was the guardian of Samuel.
