Maxine Hazelip Summerlin, 85, died Wednesday, March 2, 2005.
Mrs. Summerlin was born in McLean County, Kentucky, and was the daughter of the late Gaither and Lydia Hazelip. She was a retired school food service manager. Mrs. Summerlin had been a member of Daniels Memorial United Methodist Church for many years and served in a number of capacities.
The funeral will be held Friday at 7 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Glenn Everett officiating. Interment will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Willow Dale Cemetery.
Mrs. Summerlin is survived by her husband of 61 years, Leo Conrad Summerlin; her daughters, Linda Jordan of Henderson, Nev., and Elizabeth Ann Gufford and her husband, Ben, of Goldsboro; six grandchildren, Melissa Hill of Dallas, Texas, Ashley Odom of Pleasanton, Calif., Jennifer Long of Reno, Nev., Jeanyne Ward of Reno, Nev., Brigitta Strauch, of Wilson and Ben Gufford Jr. of Goldsboro; one great-grandchild, August Ward of Reno, Nev.; her sisters, Helen Jackson and Barbara Brown of Goldsboro; and her brothers, Donald Hazelip of Baltimore, Md., and Thomas Hazelip of Livermore, Ky. She is also survived by a special church grandchild, Daniel Chewning, and the Larry Chewning Family.
Mrs. Summerlin was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Bethany Summerlin; a son, Larry Conrad Summerlin; her sisters, Joann Schultz, Bernice Adams and Dorothy Hazelip; and her brother, Bobby Dan Hazelip.
Although flowers are welcome, memorials may be made to Daniels Memorial United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 2803 E. Ash Street, Goldsboro, NC 27534.
The family will receive friends Friday following the service at Seymour Funeral Home. (Pd)
