Primary Notes:	Roy's middle name is an enigma. Family legend (including statements from his wife, Bonnie Vincent) tells that his middle name was originally Munson, but that he changed it to McKinley out of adoration of President McKinley, the Republican. Roy was an ardent Republican. His wife was an ardent Democrat. He was a preacher, teacher, and farmer. I could write a tome with what I know of him, both through personal time spent with him and through oral history. I will save it for another day.

The 1900 US Census for Montgomery Township, Gibson Co., IN, shows a John F. Richardson who was married to an "F. C." and who had children named Alfred, Jess, Rada, Elsie, Roy, and Nilie. Given the dates of birth for these people, together with the names and birth order of the children, it is very, very likely that this is my grandfather's family. The difficulty, of course, is John's being shown as a Richardson rather than a Hazelip.

I believe this photo was taken circa 1903. I gather this from the little boy on the left, who is my grandfather. He was born in 1897, and he looks to be about 6 years old. That is the only indication I have of when this was taken. The next child in line (who is not shown here) would have been Ransom Hazelip, and he was born in 1905.
