Cause of Death: Struck by Train
Death Notes: See Grayson County Gazette newspaper article regarding Larkin's death. He was struck by a fast moving train and killed instantly. Joseph Clinton Bratcher (b. 1939) recalls a photograph of two men standing by the railroad track where Larkin was killed. One man stood in the foreground, indicating the point where Larkin and his co-worker were standing when the locomotive struck them, and the other man was standing a good distance down the track holding a white handkerchief, indicating where Larkin's body came to rest. I have not yet found this photograph.

Burial Notes: According to Joseph Clinton Bratcher (b. 1939), this tombstone once had two columns, with an upper level where the urn rested. The columns were pulled down and long forgotten, and the urn now rests on the foundational block.

I believe the person in the photo in front of the brothers is Larkin Kebbell. Lark was killed in 1914 in Indiana while working on the railroad.

Letter from Lark Kebbell to his father Thomas Kebbell, Jr.
I found this document among Grace Kebbell's family history records. It is a short letter from Larkin Kebbell to his father Thomas Kebbell (b. 1854), while Larkin was in Centralia, Ill. Larkin worked for (and was killed on) the railroad, and I imagine he was in Centralia doing his job as a signal maintainer.

I found this among Grace Kebbell's family records. Note that an "Alma" sent this to Larkin while he was in Anthony, Kansas. I would estimate that Larkin was in Kansas as part of his job as a signal maintainer on the railroad.
