Death Notes:	On the day Robert passed away, Kentucky experienced one of the worst blizzards of its history. Robert walked outside to remove the snow from his car, went into his radio shack, sat down in his favorite chair, and passed away. His youngest son, Bob, was visiting at the home and called several times for Robert on the intercom between the house and the shack. After seveal attempts, Bob went to the radio shack and found his father. Robert Bratcher moved his family to Louisville in 1943, after Cora Ellen Dennison passed away. Both he and Charles Buford Bratcher were guards at a Reynolds Metals plant. While they were in Louisville, Robert's family lived at 2732 Hale Street in Parkland. 28th was the cross-street. Robert's family lived on the second floor, and Charles Buford's family lived on the first floor.

Delores and George Patton, both caught polio while they were in Louisville.

When WWII was over, Robert wanted to move back to Caneyville, but Mildred wanted to stay in Louisville. Robert won out, and the family moved back to Caneyville in November. Joe Bratcher remembers the day. He said it had been snowing and the roads were muddy.

Alley behind 2732 Hale Street

This is the alley that ran behind 2732 Hale Street. Tommy Bratcher, my uncle, slipped out of the house during 1943-44, when the Bratchers were living in Louisville. Firemen from a local fire station saw him and held him until his father, Robert Bratcher, came looking for him.
