Additional Notes for William Vincent
Database Note No: 46
John M. Vincent and his wife, Mary Poteet, died within a few months of each other. Their burial location is unknown, although some believe it to be either in the Grassy Knob Cemetery or the old Poplar Springs Cemetery. (AM) John and Mary left six children when they passed away, and those children were raised by their grandparents, William "Moncha" Vincent and his wife, Judith Blair.

James Hayes Vincent was born in Jackson Co., TN. The second son of Rubin and Easter Saling Vincent. He was born about 1822 and died July 12, 1913. He married first Elizabeth Jones in Jackson Co., TN.
Hayes Vincent moved to Edmonson Co., KY, and then in the spring of 1861 moved on to Warren Co., IL, along with his brother William Moncher Vincent. Moncher moved back to Edmonson County about mid-summer of that same year and in the late fall Elizabeth Jones died in Illinois. In 1863 Hayes Vincent moved back to Edmonson Co., KY, having had his collar bone broke and chest hurt while in Illinois, and wasn't able to to work until 1864. This information is contained in pension papers of William Vincent, son of Hayse Vincent.
According to descendants of James Hayes Vincent, it is maintained that he married again after the death of his first wife, Elizabeth Jones, to Rachael Lashley, and Daniel Vincent was by this marriage. Dan's death certificate reveals that his mother's name was "Sally" Lashley. James Hayes Vincent married for the third time Sarrah Higgs, they are both buried in the Holly Springs Cemetery.
James Hayse Vincent also had one child by Martha Lykins. Her name was Louisa Vincent. (PV p. 19)

1840 US Census, Edmonson Co., KY
See Reuben Vinson (who is, I'm rather sure, Rubin Vincent).
Given the way the census was prepared, I am uncertain who is represented here. For that reason, I have included all of Rubin and Easter's children who would have been born before 1840.
