Burial Notes: Silas's 1917 Draft Card states that he was 24 years old and that his birth date was in 1893. His tombstone says that he was born in 1889. I believe his tombstone is incorrect.

Silas Vincent was in a mental institution once, and he escaped to come home. He also built a scale to weigh his cattle. (Oral History Note 28.)

Grey Vincent suggested that John Walter, Silas's brother, hit Silas so hard on the head with a fireplace poker that the poker actually bent. Silas's step-mother, Emily Whobrey, suggested that that incident may have caused Silas's apparent mental troubles.

The person shown as Ova (or maybe Ora) Vincent would seem to be my grandmother Bonnie Lillian Vincent. I've never heard of anyone in that family named Ova or Ora, and, of course, Bonnie is not listed (even though should would have been five years old at the time of this census).
