Cause of Death: Pulmonary Tuberculosis
Death Notes: The doctor who completed Victor's Death Certificate was stationed at Waverly Hills Sanatorium and stated that he attended Victor from February 8, 1927, until his death on April 23. That may suggest that Victor was admitted to the sanatorium on February 8. See Tim Bratcher's video of Elast Jane Vincent, Victor's half-sister, speaking of Victor's death. According to Elasta Jane, in the morning of the day Victor passed away, Meredith York Vincent, his father, had a vision of Victor floating by in a golden casket. Later that morning, the family received word that Victor had succumbed to tuberculosis.

Burial Notes: Victor's stone is not engraved, but rather impressed with lettering in wet cement. At the top, there is an impression of a bird in flight.

Database Note No: 68
Robert Lee Vincent set up a grocery store in Owensboro for his brother Victor. Apparently, Victor gave so much credit to folks that the store eventually became insolvent. It was suggested that Victor, who had been raised in the very small farming community of Bee Spring, Edmonson Co., KY, was not used to the "big city" ways of Owensboro and was, to some extent, taken advantage of. (Oral History Note 29.)

Victor contracted or discovered that he had tuberculosis while he was in Owensboro. After discovering his illness, he went home to his father's home on Bear Creek in Edmonson County, and then, at the suggestion of his brother Walter, went to the Waverly Hills Sanatorium in Jefferson Co., KY. It has been suggested that Robert Lee paid for Victor's care. (Oral History Note 29.)

The person shown as Ova (or maybe Ora) Vincent would seem to be my grandmother Bonnie Lillian Vincent. I've never heard of anyone in that family named Ova or Ora, and, of course, Bonnie is not listed (even though should would have been five years old at the time of this census).
